Knots on a Counting Rope is a metaphoric story that depicts time passing. It illustrates a boy confronting his biggest battles yet: blindness and his grandfather passing away soon.  

Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels are American actors who have been married since 1951. They are known for playing a married couple in the TV show St. Elsewhere and winning the 1986 Emmy Awards together. 

Bill Martin Jr. is one of the most known children’s book authors in American history. His career spanned over 60 years, including award-winning books such as the Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? series, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom, and over 300 others. He passed away in 2004.

John Archambault is an American children’s book author, poet, and musician. His most known works include Knots on a Counting Rope, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom, Barn Dance, and more. He and Martin. Jr. often collaborated on books such as Knots on a Counting Rope and Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom. 

Ted Rand was an illustrator who began illustrating children’s books in his 60s, finishing 78 books before passing away of cancer in 2005. He taught at the University of Washington for over 20 years and founded the company Graphic Studios.
